On May 12 and 13, the PHISHES project meeting brought together partners from across the consortium for two productive days of discussion, collaboration, and planning in the beautiful backdrop of Prague.

Setting the Stage and Exploring Site Scenarios

The meeting opened on Monday 12 with arrivals, coffee, and warm welcomes. Miroslav Trnka from Czech Global, our host partner, welcomed the consortium with an introductory note, setting a positive and collaborative tone and the relevance of PHISHES for the case study in the Czech Republic.

This was followed by an overview from the project coordinator, who refreshed the group on the broader program timeline and clarified the expected outcomes of the meeting. Moreover, financial updates were also shared, helping ensure alignment across partners.

After lunch, we shifted into the core of the day’s agenda: a plenum session focused on what we currently know about and data availability for each case study site, laying the groundwork for scenario development. The aim was to better understand each location’s focus and the main use-case scenarios identified to be investigated at each site.

We wrapped up the day with a scenic boat ride on the Vltava River, offering a refreshing way to discuss, network, and explore Prague from a magical perspective, without forgetting to look at Prague’s’ challenges with floods.

Diving into the main outputs of the PHISHES

Tuesday began with a short recap of Day 1, before diving into in-depth discussions about the next steps for developing the PHISHES Digital Platform and the Decision Support System. Key topics included identifying data needs, addressing potential constraints, and outlining a clear roadmap for development.

After lunch, we briefly reviewed the projects’ communication and dissemination strategy and actions to ensure our work continues to have broad reach and impact. The day concluded with a focused discussion on expected project outcomes, connections between digital models and test sites, and how best to leverage those linkages. This discussion was strengthened by a deep dive into the links between quantitative modelling, soil functions, and ecosystem services.
