An event to discuss “Green Solutions” in respect of environment, energy, soils, water, and agriculture took place at different faculties of Warsaw University of Life Sciences on 28th- 29th May 2025. It was organised by the European society “Europea” in search of cooperation between secondary schools and universities considering vocational training.

The representatives of 27 European countries, belonging to the network Europea “Association of Agricultural and Forestry Education” held several meetings to explore possibilities of universities’ involvement into the training of professionals, that graduate from secondary schools or “practical profile” colleges. It reflects the variety of education systems and approaches across Europe, with emphasis on vocational (professional) training that offers practical knowledge to the candidates to become an agricultural or soil manager, environment and energy utilization specialist, water management inspector etc.

The main point of discussion evolved around participation of university specialists in the courses for future professionals or attracting the high school and undergraduate students to take part in lab work, experiments, practical classes and tasks within university. Those vocational schools give merely practical knowledge and skills to the pupils, as it was mentioned above, omitting the academic/theoretical level. The participants showed a deep interest in university laboratories that refer to practical learning outcomes e.g. fluid mechanics, soil physics and mechanics, drainage and irrigation, construction materials resilience and many more.

At the Water Centre building of Warsaw University of Life Sciences, the participants were welcomed by Andrzej Brandyk Ph.D. – the investigator within the PHISHES project, but also the Vice Dean for Education at the Faculty of Civil and Environmental Engineering. During the laboratory visits different aspects of soil use and pollution mitigation were discussed from the viewpoint of contemporary solutions in energy and water sector.
