Warsaw University of Life Sciences (SGGW), partner of the PHISHES project, participated in conferences and international meetings dedicated to science and education on soil health. These occasions provided important opportunities to demonstrate not only the research potential of PHISHES but also the baseline programmes of the first and second cycle studies concerning soils, resources and climate.
In December 2025, representatives of SGGW participated in the 3rd International Conference on Advancing Sustainable Futures (ICASF 2025), held from 10–11 December at the Emirates Palace Mandarin Oriental in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. The conference was organised under the theme “Shaping the Future: Synergies Between Nature, Technology, and Society”. In particular, Andrzej Brandyk, Maja Radziemska, and Grzegorz Majewski attended the conference and contributed to the session “Innovating Science and Engineering for a Sustainable Future”, and during this event, Andrzej Brandyk presented the paper “Soil Functions Across Different Landscapes and Land Use Types of the Polish River Valleys” (Paper ID 87), co-authored by Andrzej Brandyk, Maja Radziemska, Grzegorz Majewski, and Sylwia Szporak. Although the presentation focused primarily on soil functions in Polish river valleys, it also introduced the PHISHES project, including its objectives, structure, and key research challenges. The session discussions highlighted innovative engineering solutions aimed at mitigating soil and air pollution.
New educational -first and second cycle study programmes on soil and climate were also presented during a bilateral Polish-Chinese meeting on May 12, 2026 between representatives of Nanjing University of Information Science and Technology (Nanjing, China) and the Warsaw University of Life Sciences. The meeting focused on strengthening scientific and academic cooperation between the two institutions, and discussions addressed future collaboration on student and staff exchanges, joint research projects, scientific publications, and other academic initiatives related to climate and environmental sciences.
The parties declared their commitment to educating highly qualified specialists in the field of climate and environmental sciences, responding to the needs of the modern economy and society. Except for the Vice-Rector for Internationalization (1st Vice-Rector), and the professors of the Faculty of Civil and Environmental Engineering, the Vice Dean Andrzej Brandyk Ph.D took part in the meetings and presented the current curricula and educational activities related to soils, climate change, environmental management, natural resources, and sustainable development.
